Native Americans honored the wolf for its hunting prowess and loyal family ways and sought to emulate it. Gray wolf families average 5-7 adults and are headed by the highest ranking, or "Alpha" pair. They are often so devoted to each other they've been said to fall in love, and they are usually the only pair to breed.
