Known as the "Matterhorn of the Rockies," Mount Assiniboine is located at the head of Marvel Lake Valley on the continental divide. James Outram first ascended its peaks in 1901. After climbing 3,618 meters to the top, he recorded, "It's massive pyramid forms a conspicuous landmark from almost every considerable eminence for scores of miles around."
