Originally hand knotted in Northern India, this contemporary Jaipur design shows how design themes introduced to the subcontinent by 16th century Mughal lords from Persia have survived for centuries and remain intact today. Though rugs are not native to predominantly Hindu India, the nation has become a world leader in producing superb, handmade rugs.
